I'm a Private Client Solicitor with 16 years experience and I started Sherlock Legal Consulting to enable me to give legal advice on a consultancy basis to the LGBTQ+ community.
I'm an LGBTQ+ Lawyer and a passionate advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. I aim to provide a safe space for members of the community and our allies to access advice on Wills and Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney, and other Private Client matters.
I provide advice on a consultancy basis as a Private Client Partner via nexa law, a new model law strong on diversity. Nexa is a law firm with a national presence, and as part of nexa I can provide my services flexibly where and when is convenient for my clients.
I'm happy to answer any burning questions you have about anything Private Client such as "how long does Probate take?"
I specialise in Wills and Probate, Estate Administration, Powers of Attorney, Court of Protection deputy applications and elderly client matters. I have a particular interest in advising cohabiting couples and those with alternative relationship structures.
I joined The Association of Lifetime Lawyers as their Chief Legal Officer in June 2023 and I'm a Accredited Member. Lifetime Lawyers is a community of likeminded legal professionals with additional skills to support older and vulnerable clients with the right legal advice. We’re dedicated to making a difference in the lives of those who need our support the most. Our members are specialists in supporting people at the really critical points in their lifetime - when they're most vulnerable and things are most complex.
I work with the Directors to design the annual training programme for members and co-ordinate the updating of existing best practice guides and knowledge packs, developing new ones as the need arises. I also write for and edit the Lifetime Lawyers members newsletter and oversee the Lifetime Laywers forum.
I am the lead contact with third-sector organisations supporting vulnerable people and I act as the “eyes and ears” of the organisation, spotting and sharing relevant changes in legal practice, writing briefings for members on urgent and emerging issues, as well as overseeing updating the existing LCP and LLP qualifications.
I'm a committee member of the Law Society's LGBTQ+ Solicitors Network, a Dementia Friend, and an affiliate member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). I am dual qualified having been admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in Ireland in October 2021, though currently non-practising in Ireland.
In January 2021 I adopted an adorable rescue Rottie cross who is my Barkministrator, and the namesake for Sherlock Legal Consulting (see below). You can read about my experience of being out in the law here:
I'm mum's bestest boy, I'm paid in treats and cuddles, and I also work for my dad's company Logistical Training.
I'm a Rottweiler cross and came to live with mum and dad in 2021 after a short stay with my wonderful foster family after being rescued by Heathlands Animal Sanctuary in Royston.
I enjoy country walks, checking my weemails, sniffing for squirrels, and my best friend is a Jack Russell called Bruno.
